Yes, you read right, The mom bod.
I know what you are thinking, what bod? But think about what we just did?
We gave birth to a new set of dreams, to a tiny little human, to our whole world, so yes mama, you have an awesome bod!
Forget the number on the scale or your jeans, you just rocked it and you continue rocking it whether breastfeeding or formula feeding you are living on less than 2 hours of consecutive sleep.
But, in reality, that doesn't stop us from wanting our pre-baby body back.
I'm guilty!
From day one I got on the scale and the number scared me crazy and I did nothing. I thought that because I was breastfeeding I had an ace up my sleeve and the weight was magically going to melt off.
Obviously, it didn't!
I didn't walk, exercise or do anything relatively close to that so that weight held on tight. Fast forward a year, I stopped breastfeeding and some of the weight did come off but I still had more than 10lbs to lose.
Now let me be clear, there is no problem with the extra pounds if you are happy and comfortable with your body but in the moment you step back in the pictures, or skip out on family time because is at the pool then, there is a problem.
I had that moment after a family trip to the beach. I didn't let my husband upload one picture we took because I didn't like how I looked.
But there is really not an " I went to the gym and the pounds melted off" happy ending I hate exercising and going to the gym so what does one do?
It's simple, do what you love and what you find entertaining.
In, my case it meant doing it at home, making it fun and doing it with my family that way I had ZERO excuses. Here is what I did:
1. Improve my eating habits.
I've always heard that a good diet is a key and I hated it because I love to eat but I saw the biggest change in my body when I cut carbs for 4 weeks. Now, we have a lot of spaghetti squash or mashed cauliflower and we can't bearly taste the difference. Also, I have implemented portion control!
2. Drink more water.
I don't love water but I have been adding Young Living lemon drops to my water and it has been a big plus. I also add strawberries and even cucumbers so I don't get bored
Each month we get a lovely visitor who kind of puts a damper on routine so being prepared for this is always a plus, and U by Kotex Fitness has our back! Their new line fits around our curves and supports our necessities during that especial time. It comes in a very compact box and its new design is even more protective. You can learn more here and even have some fun. Don't forget to grab a $2 iBotta coupon for your purchase.
Hope these tips help! Get out there and enjoy your little one.
And know that we are all a work in progress in many areas of our life, keep at it and you will see and feel the results.
Great attitude! I carry a water bottle everywhere to keep my intake up. One of my workplaces keeps fruit-infused water available free in the cafeteria, so that helps, too. Strawberry or lemon are my favorites!
